Macy’s annual Glamorama showed us the best prints, patterns, textures and colors from the fall shows, set to the backbeat of the dapper clan from Far East Movement and the soulful strains of Cee Lo Green.
We’ve rounded up some of our favorite trends from the event, and show you how you can take them from the runway to everyday.
Tweedy Birds
Karl Lagerfeld brought his buttoned-up rocker girl chic to his Impulse for Macy’s collection this fall, and true to form, no one does tweed better. Follow King Karl’s lead and set off a tweed dress, jacket or suit with leather gloves and layers of chains or pearls.
Runway (and Everyday!): Karl Lagerfeld for Impulse Tweed Coat, $169 and Dress, $129, Macy’s
Everyday: Karl Lagerfeld for Impulse Metallic Tweed Jacket, $149, and Skirt, $79, Macy’s
Tartaned Up
There are many ways to sport this autumn’s plaid madness, from jackets to button ups to mini dresses to the traditional kilt. Going head-to-toe tartan is only for the bold, though—for the rest of us, pick one standout plaid piece, like this Tory Burch midi skirt.
Editor’s Tip: Vintage stores are a great source for everything plaid!

Silk Specter
Silken ladylike dresses pack a punch of retro glam, and this season’s updates feature colorful and whimsical patterns that are anything but school marmish. Wear these dresses with a pair of classic heels and the latest arrival on the merry-go-round of fashion, sheer hose.

Everyday: Milly Cate Sheath Dress, $345, Bloomingdale’s
Seeing Spots
Designers found ways to shake up the traditional polka dot by applying them in contrasting fabrics, jewel colors and irregular patterns. It’s a wink to sweetness without tasting overly sugary.
