Andrea Gaines Helps North Shore Women Reach ‘Higher Ground’

Andrea Gaines of Evanston wants us all to take a little more time out for ourselves—to make ourselves a priority.

With her business Higher Ground Life & Wellness Coaching, Gaines, a certified life and wellness coach, teaches groups about how “to live a more inspired life, through nutrition, exercise and mindset.”

Gaines describes her job as “helping people be strong and feel good and feel like they can go out and make a difference in the world.” Having worked as a personal trainer, Gaines transitioned into life and wellness coaching because she wanted to take her work to the next level—so it didn’t just deal with the body, but also with relationship, career, spirituality, well-being, confidence and self-esteem.

Gaines taught an exercise and wellness coaching course at Baker Demonstration School in Evanston, where her son is a student, as a fundraiser for the school. She also teaches fitness classes at Evanston Athletic Club, is the club’s resident life coach and will be teaching a wellness workshop there this fall. Gaines also offers corporate employee wellness workshops that inspire greater employee job satisfaction and productivity.

Gaines has completed marathons, triathlons and half-marathons. Her monthly newsletter goes out to more than 1,000 each month.
