Quick and Easy: Snow City Arts Gallery Night

KidDrawing-Popcorn

Chicago-based nonprofit Snow City Arts hosts its annual Gallery Night on September 21.

The night will feature visual arts, music, poetry and film created by children in local hospitals.

Snow City Arts, founded 14 years ago, believes in using the arts to support, inspire and educate children who reside in Rush Children’s Hospital, the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and the John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County. The Snow City Arts team instructs children individually as well as in group workshops throughout each week. The lessons, however, are not purely art-focused; instructors also place an emphasis on Social Studies, Math, Science and Language Arts in their lesson plans.

This year’s Gallery Night event is entitled Circus, Circus, with the showcased art coinciding with this theme. It runs from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. and will take place at the Floating World Gallery, 1925 N. Halsted St. The fundraiser features hors d’oeuvres, drinks, a silent auction and a sale and raffle of the finest artwork done by the children this past year. You can purchase tickets for $100, and can find more information at Snow City Arts.
