Say Thank You to Our Troops: Barrington Honor Ride

Join Mike Tobin to raise money for wounded warriors on Sunday, October 23, noon – 6 p.m.

Participants will ride or run alongside wounded veterans, meet recipients of the Congressional Medal of Honor, and personally thank the men and women who are serving our country. Enjoy an afternoon of food, fun and music at the Barrington Metra Station. The popular band, 7th Heaven, will perform around 2 p.m.

Barrington Hills native Tobin will be riding his bike at this event.

Tobin spent a lot of time with U.S. troops while on assignment in the Middle East for Fox News. He attributes the courageous and quick thinking of a U.S. soldier for saving his life from an undetonated roadside bomb in Fallujah.

Eager to honor the service and sacrifice of American soldiers, Tobin contacted Dede Wamberg, his former next door neighbor in Barrington Hills to help spearhead this fund raiser that will benefit two charities: Ride2Recovery and Operation Homefront of Ilinois. Proceeds will be used by both groups to improve the lives of wounded warriors and their families. Wamberg is pleased, but not surprised, that the patriotic spirit is already in full force throughout the Barrington area with eager volunteers, participants and sponsors. “It’s a communitywide effort,” she says.

You can register for the 30 mile scenic bike ride or the 10k/5k run at this link. Make a difference in the lives of wounded warriors.  As Mike Tobin reminds us, “These guys honored their commitment to serve our country and paid a price. We owe it to them to do whatever we can to help out and honor them.” The Barrington Honor Ride and Run is a great way to say “thank you” to the troops.
