National Tortilla Chip Day – February 24

Break out the salsa and celebrate—it’s National Tortilla Chip Day.

What it is: Rebecca Webb Carranza, who is credited with founding the tortilla chip, died on February 24, 2006 at 96 years old. To remember her great discovery of frying up rejected tortilla chips from her family’s factory, our country celebrates this weird holiday.

How to celebrate: By eating tortilla chips, of course! Make them yourself from scratch or whip up a festive dip for merry chip-eating. We suggest Rick Bayless’s Bacon and Tomato Guacamole.

Pair it with a great margarita and you’ve got a party!
