On Thursday, March 17th the Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center hosted its annual Humanitarian Awards Dinner at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. Over 1,700 guests attended including civic and community leaders, holocaust survivors, and religious figures who were able to raise $3 million dollars for the museum. Former U.S. Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta was the evening’s keynote speaker and also led a lively discussion with entrepreneur, philanthropist and investor J.B. Pritzker. CME Group Executive Director & President Terrence A. Duffy won the Humanitarian award for his life-long commitment to improving and bettering the community while Harvey L. Miller won the Survivor Legacy Award. Additionally, the museum’s CEO announced a campaign of $30 Million, of which $20 Million has already been raised, to support their Commit to the Future Campaign. The campaign will secure the future of the museum’s programming and finances making it possible to continue their mission of honoring the victims of the Holocaust, keeping their stories alive, and educating people on the universal lessons in humanity.
