Own Your Expertise Online

Your voice, ideas and engagement are important to help us accomplish our mission. We encourage you to share your ideas and efforts to make the world a better place by submitting a “You Said It.”

“You Said It” submissions, as mentioned above, are similar to OpEds — written features which explain an issue and recommend solutions, using supporting information and, where possible, helpful visuals.

Engage Our Audience and Earn $1000

An excellent “You Said It” can earn a nonprofit that you champion a $1,000 donation from the Make It Better Foundation and eligibility for a Gala Media Partnership for greater engagement with our audience too..

Expert Tips for Strong Submissions

In order to be eligible for publication, a “You Said It” submission should follow these guidelines:

  1. Share Your Expertise and Passion: We welcome articles on topics where you have both expertise and passion. Your qualifications and experiences enrich your writing, making it more authoritative and engaging.
  2. Back Up Your Claims: Use established research and credible sources to support your arguments. Links to accurate citations by trusted sources (for example: thought leaders, unbiased media, universities, nonprofits, local government) are key, providing depth and further reading opportunities for our audience.
  3. Include relevant information and next steps: Tell our readers why they should engage and learn more, and how to do so. Include any specific events/dates.
  4. Suggest a Compelling Headline: Your headline should be clear and engaging, summarizing the essence of your piece without resorting to clickbait.
  5. Structure: A well-structured piece should include an introduction, a detailed body, and a conclusion with a call to action.
  6. Must be Original and Exclusive: We value original, exclusive content. Ensure your submission is unique and hasn’t been published elsewhere.
  7. Include at least two high-quality photos: Submit two high-quality photos properly credited and with permission secured from photographer and photo subjects.
  8. Include a Bio: A short author bio helps our readers connect with you and understand your background and perspective.
  9. Promote Your Work: Once published, we encourage you to share your piece on social media to broaden its impact and foster discussion.
