The Family Institute at Northwestern University Highlights the Impact of Depression and Anxiety on Our Relationships

On June 12, The Family Institute at Northwestern University hosted a panel at Chicago Botanic Garden featuring speakers Heather B. Armstrong and Alexandra Solomon. Moderating the discussion was Nancy Burgoyne, chief clinical officer at The Family Institute. More than 80 guests were able to listen to each of their experiences with treating anxiety and depression, and learn more about the effects it can have on relationships. The speakers continued to expand on a number of topics such as motherhood and parenting, how childhood trauma can lead to depression in adulthood, and different types of treatment for depression. Guests were able to ask the panelists questions during the open-discussion afterward.

As the event concluded, each guest received two complimentary books: “The Valedictorian of Being Dead: The True Story of Dying Ten Times to Live by Heather B. Armstrong as well as “Loving Bravely: 20 Lessons of Self-Discovery to Help You Get the Love You Want by Alexandra Solomon, Ph.D.
