The North Shore Chambers of Commerce are enhancing their Women In Business Conference with Women In Business Leadership Awards.
Best Corporate, Small Business, Entrepreneur, Nonprofit and Government Leadership Awards will be presented, followed by a panel discussion with the winners offering insight and advice for their peers.
Nominations for the awards were open to the public in April. The 19 Chambers of Commerce participating in the conference selected the winners this past week.
“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” – John Quincy Adams
“Our criteria for award winners included outstanding careers for a minimum of five years and demonstrated leadership, character, mentoring of others and service to the community,” explains Victoria Sweet, Executive Director of the Deerfield Chamber and one of two organizers of the conference.
The award recipients will be:
- Corporate Woman of the Year (over 50 employees): Joy Foster, Deerfields Bakery
- Small Business Woman of the Year: Megan Vantreek, Irish Connoisseur
- Entrepreneur of the Year: Adriane Johnson, Populus XP, LLC
- Nonprofit of the Year: Deb Guy, Women’s Exchange
- Government: Battalion Chief Wendy Durkin, Buffalo Grove Fire Department
“We expect over 400 conference participants and believe that they will not only enjoy networking and learning from their peers as in past years, they will also be inspired and educated by the Leadership Awards event,” says Wilmette Chamber Director Nada Becker, the other conference organizer.
Make It Better is proud to sponsor these awards, along with Wells Fargo Private Bank. If you are in business, or thinking about starting a business or returning to work, we encourage you to sign up for the June 5 conference to inspire you to achieve your goals.
