5 Things to Do: Oct. 21-23

If you can’t wait for Halloween, you don’t have to wait any longer! Between two Spooktacular events in Glenview and Northbrook and a new event at Chicago Botanic Garden, the Halloween fun begins now. Plus, enjoy a fall festival at The Morton Arboretum and a shopping event in Evanston.

During this brand new event, Chicago Botanic Garden will glow with the light of more than 1,000 carved pumpkins. Guests can meet characters, visit the Model Railroad Garden, munch on apple doughnuts and sip cider or ale, and more.

End the weekend with even more Halloween fun at this North Suburban YMCA party, which will open early for families of children with special needs. Take a Spooky Pool Boat ride, enter a costume contest, visit the spooky sensory stations, make your way through a kids’ maze and participate in the “Thriller” dance party.

  • Chalet’s Howl-O-Ween Pet Parade is Oct. 22. Participants will receive a doggie goodie bag and a photo, and prizes will be given for Most Creative, Most Original, Best Owner-dog Look-Alike, Most Breed Appropriate and Most Humorous costumed dogs.
  • The OLPH Women’s Club will host the 35th annual Holly Fair Oct. 20-21. Shop 50 booths of one-of-a-kind items before grabbing a snack at the Candy Cane Cafe. The event kicks off with Sip and Shop Oct. 20.
