5 Things to Do: April 11 – 13

Spring is in full swing this weekend.

Kids can enjoy two egg hunts, one of which includes a magic show, and an evening campfire perfect for roasting marshmallows. Adults will be able to relax with two festivals—one film, one food—and a concert celebrating all genres of music.

With so much to do, we’ve also included three bonus events!

Old-Fashioned Campfire

Friday, April 11
Highland Park

Spend an evening outdoors hiking with a Heller Nature Center naturalist and playing games. You’ll then be able to warm up while roasting marshmallows by the campfire. Register today to reserve your spot!

The Family of Woman Film Festival

April 11–13

This film festival started in Idaho as a way to raise awareness of women’s issues around the world and money for the United Nations Population Fund. Watch trailers for the three festival films here.

Pastoral’s Artisan Producer Festival

Saturday, April 12

Calling all foodies! This festival at Chicago French Market will offer meats, cheeses, confections, beer and wine from around the world. You’ll also have the chance to meet the makers themselves.

Easter Egg Hunt and Magic Show

Saturday, April 12
Lake Forest

Grab your baskets and head out to Lake Forest for this egg hunt, which will include games, pictures with the Easter Bunny and a magic show. You can enjoy more egg-citing fun in Glenview at Eggstravaganza.

Saturday, April 12

Anything can happen at this concert. Matt Walker, former drummer for The Smashing Pumpkins, is bringing some of Chicago’s best musicians together to play some of the best music from the past 35 years, no matter the genre.
