With Passover and Easter celebrations taking place throughout the area, this weekend is all about family.
There are plenty of ways to get outside, whether you’re interested in learning more about taking care of our planet, want to cheer on our local soccer teams, or simply like sweets. And speaking of sweets, watch the sweetest movie of them all in Chicago.
Earth Day Celebration
Spend a day exploring the 32 acres of Air Station Prairie, participating in family activities, learning about the Bike Glenview campaign, and more. You can also bring these items to donate to Goodwill.
Spring Sweets & Treats
Make your Saturday sweet with a Candyland-inspired event that includes a scavenger egg hunt, petting zoo and face painting, among other activities.
Fire and Red Stars Doubleheader
Make one trip out to Toyota Park (and buy one ticket) this weekend and cheer on two soccer teams. The Chicago Fire will start the action against the New England Revolution, followed by the Chicago Red Stars versus Western New York Flash.
ArtWauk
If you’ve never been to Waukegan’s Arts & Entertainment District, this is the perfect time to introduce yourself as more than 20 galleries, shops, theaters and other venues will offer free admission.

Chicago
After you’ve hunted for candy, sit back and relax with your findings while watching a film all about one strange candy factory. Dress up like Willy Wonka or another favorite character because there will be a costume contest and goodie bags.
Looking ahead…
On Wednesday, April 23, bring new or gently used designer handbags, totes, wallets, scarves, sunglasses or jewelry to Sarah Campbell, 563 Lincoln Ave., Winnetka, to donate to Flashes of Hope‘s Bag Lady Luncheon, which will be held on September 10.
