This weekend, kids will love a kite festival in Chicago and Touch a Truck in Glenview. Adults won’t want to miss a new show at Apollo Theater, a concert with a Grammy Award-winning pianist, or a book event in Evanston.
“Dylan Brody’s Driving Hollywood”

Actor, comedian and writer Dylan Brody opens the multi-city tour of his solo show “Dylan Brody’s Driving Hollywood,” which follows Brody as he drives to the biggest Hollywood meeting he’s ever had, in Chicago at Apollo Theater. The show runs through May 20.
Chicago Kids and Kites Festival
This free annual event is back with the Windjammers International Kite Team, the Big Kite Candy Drop, face painting, balloon artists and crafts. Kids will also receive a kite kit (while supplies last) so they can build and decorate their own kite.
Touch a Truck

Glenview
Kohl Children’s Museum’s 12th annual Touch a Truck event will be held at a brand new location this year (NIPSTA, 2300 Patriot Blvd., Glenview), but will still feature more than 30 vehicles, including fire engines and semis, for kids to explore. New activities include an interactive first responder demonstration (VIP hour), the 101.9 MIX Road Crew and an appearance by Bigfoot Monster Truck.

Grammy Award-winning pianist Murray Perahia returns to Chicago for the Symphony Center Presents Piano series. The afternoon program will include pieces by Bach, Schubert and Beethoven.
Tasting the Midwest With Beth Dooley, author of “In Winter’s Kitchen”
Bookends & Beginnings will host Beth Dooley, author of “In Winter’s Kitchen: Growing Roots and Breaking Bread in the Northern Heartland,” at Found Kitchen & Social House. Guests will hear from Dooley, receive a copy of her book, and enjoy a menu of light bites and two signature cocktails created for this event. Purchase your tickets here.
