Can you believe it’s already the last weekend of September?
Make the most of it with three foodie events that, fortunately, take place Friday through Sunday, so you can munch on tasty apple treats, sample food from favorite Evanston restaurants and meet some of Chicago’s best chefs in Millennium Park all weekend long.
Families will also enjoy two festivals, one that annually shares ways to reduce carbon footprints and one new fest that’s all about celebrating Glenview’s aviation history.
Long Grove Apple Festival
Friday, Sept. 26 to Sunday, Sept. 28
Long Grove
While you will find classics like apple cider and caramel apples, you can also enjoy apple spiced doughnuts, caramel apple lattes, apple-flavored popcorn, apple fudge, apple martinis and even a caramelized apple and bacon cheeseburger.
Evanston Art and Big Fork Festival
Friday, Sept. 26 to Sunday, Sept. 28
Evanston
Just when you thought the area couldn’t have any more art festivals, Amdur Productions brings the North Shore a brand new event that highlights the best of Evanston’s art and food scenes. The fest also includes live music from headliners Sixteen Candles, a local ‘80s cover band.
Chicago Gourmet
Friday, Sept. 26 to Sunday, Sept. 28
Chicago
More than 190 of the best local restaurants and chefs will come together for one can’t-miss foodie event in Millennium Park. Enjoy cooking demonstrations, tastings, seminars and book signings.
Evanston Green Living Festival
If you’re always looking for ways to reduce your carbon footprint, don’t miss this annual event, which gives local organizations the ability to share their green products and services.
Flight Fest
Celebrate Glenview’s rich aviation history with this new event. The fest kicks off with a ceremony for the men and women who have served and are serving in the United States Armed Forces and continues with live music, food and activities, including rock climbing and eurobungy.
Bonus:
- The finale of “Opera Idol” at The Merion in Evanston takes place Friday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. The grand prize winner will receive a full tuition scholarship to The Sherrill Milnes Voice Studio workshop or other VOICExperience Foundation program of the winner’s choosing.
