James Graham is no stranger to seafaring.
That is what no doubt drew him to the subject of his recently published book, “Victura: The Kennedys, a Sailboat, and the Sea.”
The book shares a side of the Kennedy clan that has been mostly unseen: their connection to the ocean and shared memories of sailing on their beloved Victura, a small Wianno Senior sailboat that Joe Kennedy purchased in 1932. The little boat has a big history, and author Graham, a politician and sailor himself, uses it to tell the oft-told Kennedy story from a fresh angle. It is both well researched and fondly written and proves a fascinating read.
Graham, a Wilmette resident, will be discussing his book on Tuesday, April 8, 6:30 p.m., at Michigan Shores Club (911 Michigan Ave., Wilmette, 847-251-4365). He will also do a book signing at The Book Stall (811 Elm St., Winnetka, 847-446-8880) on Friday, April 25 at 6:30 p.m. Both events are free and open to the public.
