About “The Nutcracker”
The holiday classic returns to Auditorium Theatre this holiday season for 29 performances, from Nov. 30 through Dec. 29. In this reimagined performance by Tony Award-winning choreographer Christopher Wheeldon, the cast tells the tale of Marie and her immigrant family at the Chicago World’s Fair in 1893. Marie embarks on a whirlwind adventure with the Nutcracker Prince through a dreamlike Fair, along with a festive Christmas Eve celebration and two acts of Tchaikovsky’s classic score. New this year is the addition of a “Worker Girl” role played by two of Joffrey Academy’s Adaptive Dance Program students, creating a permanent new role for children with disabilities.
