In Good Taste: A Breast Cancer Research Initiative

Eat, drink and donate to the Lynn Sage Foundation in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October.

Over 100 eateries across the Chicagoland area are participating in the 5th Annual “In Good Taste” Campaign, donating $1 (or more, if you desire) per check to the Lynn Sage Scholars Program at Northwestern. The Lynn Sage Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for breast cancer, and has partnered with the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center at Northwestern in order to recruit and retain the most talented scientists.

The Scholars Program allows the Cancer Center to recruit both faculty needing essential start-up funds for extensive research projects as well as established scientists who require funds to expand existing research. A steady supply of funds is therefore crucial to continue the work of these scientists as their projects develop and grow. Within the Scholars Program, a chosen candidate receives $100,000 per year for a maximum of two years to pursue a proposed line of cellular, molecular and/or genetic research.

Look for table cards, posters and check presenters explaining “In Good Taste” at participating locations. In the past, some restaurants have offered a free dessert or gift certificate to customers who donated over $10, featured a menu item which would benefit the Foundation and even created a signature dish or drink dedicated to the “In Good Taste” campaign. Click here for a list of participants—they are sprinkled across Chicago, the North Shore and western suburbs. Pick your fave and let’s toast to the ta-ta’s!
