From Local Favorite to National Spotlight: Hester Painting & Decorating Selected as Benjamin Moore Faces of Design

What makes an expert craftsmen? Is it the hours of work they’ve spent honing their skills? Is it stellar feedback from clients? Or maybe just general zeal for what they do? For Steve Hester of Hester Painting & Decorating, it’s a culmination of all those aspects and having the accolades to prove it.

This month, Benjamin Moore launched their newest campaign Faces of Design — an annual class of hand-selected interior designers, architects and professional painters from across the country whom Benjamin Moore deems the best of the best. This year’s inaugural cohort was comprised of 25 professionals, including: Steve Hester and Joan Craig, designer and Hester’s collaborator.

Hester, alongside his team of over 70 skilled painters, are no strangers to the interior design needs of the Chicagoland area. Since opening in 1968, their goal has always been to fulfill clients’ wishes by doing expert-level work “that will last for years to come,” Hester mentioned.

While their work truly speaks for itself, the Chicago community at large had a few things to say, too. Namely, by voting Hester Painting & Decorating as the Best Painter in Better Magazine’s Best of 2022: Home and Design competition. This year’s victory marks the 10th consecutive year that they have nabbed this honor, truly crowning the Skokie-based company the most elite Chicago-area interior design problem solvers.
