Fireworks Fashion for Kids

I don’t know about you, but it’s hard for me to plan for the 4th of July without thinking about what my children are going to wear. Luckily, a patriotic palette is absolutely delightful on kids.

And, for moms like me (who are shopping sales at the last minute!), local retailers have affordable, versatile outfits that will make fireworks this holiday and all summer long.

This year my kids are wearing salute-worthy pieces from Giggles & Giraffes in Wilmette’s Plaza del Lago.

Grace and Annie will sparkle in red-and-white seersucker skorts from the E-Land brand. Coming in a wide range of sizes, the adjustable-waist skorts are trimmed in white rickrack and have navy blue anchors embroidered throughout ($34). The girls complete their look with white tees and flower-trimmed flip-flops from Target.

Eddie is wearing red-and-white striped shorts with lobsters from Vineyard Vines ($75), while Leo is decked out in a navy-and-white striped shirt with bursts of red, from Big Fish by Sweet Potatoes ($34).

And younger brother Jimmy is matched in a darling onesy of the same design ($30).

If you’re shopping at the mall or online, Gymboree (with stores in Old Orchard and Northbrook Court) has a lobster line in its Eastern Seaboard collection. With fun tanks and T-shirts starting at $5.99, you just might be able to spring for a cute 4th of July accessory for yourself, too.
