A team of Northwestern students, calling themselves “SweetPerk,” created the new Smartphone application “Passport to Downtown Evanston.”
The free app entices people to shop at participating stores in downtown Evanston by letting them browse through promotional deals and discounts, a la Groupon. The SweetPerk team hopes the app will boost business in local shops and help owners determine how successful their promotions are.
The app, created for iPhones and Androids, can be found in the Apple App Store and Android Marketplace.
