Go Glamorama

Fall is officially upon us, and we’ve got some of the season’s best trends as seen on the runways at Macy’s Glamorama, benefiting Ronald McDonald House.

Menswear
Blazers, vests, trousers—all made major appearances on runways for fall. Guy styles are especially appropriate now because they’re perfect for layering and give you a sharp silhouette. It was menswear meets schoolgirl at Tommy Hilfiger, who paired coats and sweaters with short flirty skirts, while Sonia Rykiel went with slouchier pieces and Marc Jacobs showed a full suit. Ladylike
If dressing like the boys isn’t your thing, you’re in luck: Designers were also enamored of girly shapes this season, but executed them in luxurious wools and knits. Marc Jacobs got it right once again with full skirts that fell to the mid-calf. He paired them with pea coats and blazers for a greater volume, but the unfussy fabrics and styling kept things fresh. For a sleeker silhouette, we liked Sportmax’s trim gray sheath with black side panels and piping. Notice the other big trend here: soothing grays. (Looks by Marc Jacobs and Sportmax)

Luxe Fabrics
Winter is the time to splurge on quality pieces that will keep you warm and last for seasons to come. We saw elaborate but stunning combinations of wool, knits and leather from Sportmax and Just Cavalli, to name a couple. Mix soft wools with hard-edged leather for the right amount of ruggedness. (Looks by Sportmax)

Chic Knits

There’s nothing quite like snuggling into your favorite sweater when the skies turn snowy. Tops, dresses and skirts are all getting the chunky knit treatment and look great paired with boots and colored tights. We especially loved Jean Paul Gaultier’s brightly hued and patterned Russian-inspired styles, which would make any czarina drool. (Looks by Jean Paul Gaultier)

Fur

Whether real or faux, fur is the ultimate in luxurious style, even if it’s just an accessory. Accent your outfit with a stole or fur-trimmed jacket, or make a funkier statement in one of this season’s colored or patterned fur coats. (Looks by Sportmax, Just Cavalli and Issey Miyake)

Lace-Up Boots
We’re sensing a hint of the prairie in the sartorial air, so it’s no surprise that lace-up boots have made a comeback. Wear them short or tall, dainty or durable. (Looks by Tommy Hilfiger)
