2008 Olympics Recap – Checking back on our 5 Local Athletes

If you’re like us– it’s been all Olympics, all the time! And this summer’s games have been just as exciting as we had hoped. For our 5 spotlighted local athletes, Beijing has been an incredible opportunity to showcase their talents; here’s how our ones-to-watch have fared:

Lake Forest’s Matt Grevers took the Silver Medal in the 100M Backstroke! He also competed in both the 4x100M Freestyle Relay and the 4x100M Medley Relay Semifinals, helping the USA win the Gold Medal in both events.

Rower Jamie Schroeder and his team took 5th place in the Mens Quadruple Sculls Final.

Christina Loukas, of Riverwoods, dove her way into 9th place in the 3M Springboard Finals.

Sibling swimmers Doug and Kristina Lennox of Lake Forest, competed in Beijing on behalf of Puerto Rico. Doug swam the 200M Butterfly with a time of 2 minutes and 1 second and the 100M Butterfly in 53 seconds. Kristina competed in the 400M Freestyle with a time of 4 minutes 20 seconds, and the 200M Butterfly in 2 minutes 17 seconds.
