Better Makers: Midwest Palliative & Hospice CareCenter

Midwest Palliative & Hospice CareCenter was one of the first 50 hospices in the U.S. Today they serve patients and families in over 150 communities. The organization celebrated their A Knight to Remember Gala on May 16 at Michigan Shores Club. The center raised over $275,000 to provide patients and their families with services and therapies that are not covered by insurance or Medicare, including a bereavement camp for children, music-thanatology, integrative therapies like massage and reiki, pet therapy and charity care.

The night included a special presentation of the Excellence in Care Award to E. Dennis Murphy, MD, FACP, medical advisor to the organization since its founding and a long-serving board member.
