Help “Feed the Dream” in Guatemala

A little goes a long way in providing nutrition—and, in doing so, a future—for families in Guatemala, according to the local nonprofit Feed the Dream.

Send a holiday gift

$50 buys a 45-pound Holiday Tamale Basket to a destitute family of Christmas Eve. A basket feeds up to 12 family members and provides them with the ingredients for the traditional meal. Feed the Dream gift cards can be sent to those people in whose name you’ve donated. Deadline to order is Dec. 21.

Send an anytime gift, that will keep on giving

  • $250 feeds one child with food and vitamins for a year
  • $130 provides a vented, enclosed stove to prevent respiratory ailments, cataracts and open-fire burns (many women in Guatemala are almost blind from cooking over open fires)
  • $500 offers one pregnant woman a healthy pregnancy with food and vitamins
  • $1,000 provides 111 women with folic acid and health care
  • $2,500 is 6 mos. salary for Feed the Dream’s indigenous nutritionist and educator
  • $5,000 establishes and maintains 7 village gardens for one year
  • $10,000 establishes a nutrition program center

Getting involved doesn’t have to mean giving funds. Feed the Dream Founder Sandy Haggart often gives presentations to organization, clubs and other groups, and “exposure is key to growth,” she says. So, consider having Sandy speak at your next meeting or event. Contact her at info@feedthedream.org.
