Quick and Easy: Empower2U

Attend Empower2U’s fundraiser with free yoga, dance and spinning classes to help those who can’t afford genetic testing for the breast cancer gene.

When: Friday, Nov. 30, 5-8 p.m.

Where: Equinox Fitness, 799 Central Ave., Highland Park

Tickets: Free admission, donations accepted

The Charity: Highland Park native Gayl Walder and her daughter Sydnee created the not-for-profit organization Empower2U out of Sydnee’s community service project for high school. Designed to raise awareness about BRCA1 and BRCA2, gene mutations which increase risk for breast cancer, Empower2U aims to help those who do not have insurance or cannot afford mammograms.

Equinox is generously opening the entire facility to this event on November 30, which will feature yoga, Werq dance and spin classes throughout the evening. There will be DVDs and t-shirts for sale as well as a silent auction full of holiday gifts. With great music, food and an appearance by Lululemon, this event is a must!
