Quick and Easy: WBEZ Day of Service

MAD-wbez-chicago-caresPaint a mural. Plant a garden. Throw a birthday party. There’s no shortage of ways you can help with WBEZ’s first ever Day of Service.

What: WBEZ’s Day of Service will offer 16 volunteer openings across four days at a variety of service sites around the Chicago area, including Children’s Home + Aid, Ronald McDonald House, Flannery Apartments, Greater Chicago Food Depository and the People’s Music School.

Afterward, join the fun Saturday, June 1 at 5 p.m. at Shubas for a storytelling competition based on people’s experiences from the Day of Service, a performance by the Blue Ribbon Glee Club, and a Goose Island Green Line on the house for volunteers. The evening celebration is free for all volunteers, $15 for the general public, $12 for WBEZ members, or $10 for students with identification.

This event is in partnership with Chicago Cares, the city’s leading service organization.

When: Wednesday, May 29, 9 a.m.; Thursday, May 30, 10 a.m.; Friday, May 31, 9:30 a.m.; Saturday, June 1, 10 a.m.
