On Aug. 29, the Metropolitan Planning Council (MPC) hosted a Chicago River Tour aboard Wendella Boats’ Magnificent Mile Water Taxi. Make It Better was a proud media sponsor of the event.
The tour took place ahead of the opening of the Chicago River Edge Ideas Lab, an initiative of the City of Chicago’s Department of Planning and Development, along with MPC, that’s part of the 2017 Chicago Architecture Biennial. The Chicago River Edge Ideas Lab is funded by The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation, Comcast and Related Midwest.
Beginning Sept. 16, nine architecture firms will present their vision for an updated Chicago riverfront. Public input will then be gathered in order to guide future projects along the river.
The nine participating firms are:
- Adjaye Associates
- James Corner Field Operations
- Perkins+Will
- Ross Barney Architects
- Sasaki
- Site Design Group
- SOM
- Studio Gang
- SWA
