On Monday, April 8, 2019, Open Studio Project hosts its 20th annual Artopia fundraiser to be held at Found Kitchen & Social House (1560 Oak Ave., Evanston) from 6-10 p.m. with a V.I.P. Reception from 6-7 p.m.
Artopia: A Night in Old Havana features a live and silent auction as well as dinner, wine, beer, and a specialty cocktail. The event funds Open Studio Project’s work in bringing its unique art and writing process to Evanston’s youth and adults. VIP tickets are $185, and event tickets are $65 or $75 at the door.
The Don Seiden Award will be given to Jodi Block, a civic leader and strong supporter of OSP for the past 27 years. Block is a former OSP board member and current advisory board member. She also currently presides on the board of Personal PAC, Chicago Public Library, and the Chicago Children’s Museum. Mr. Seiden established the Art Therapy Department at the School of the Art Institute and was an early supporter of Open Studio Project. He has had a lifetime commitment to the transformative power of the arts. Recipients are chosen because their work reflects creativity and dedication to the community.
The mission of the Open Studio Project is to serve the community by teaching and disseminating a creative process that allows individuals of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds to experience art as a vehicle for personal growth. The organization, located in Evanston, Illinois, serves the Chicago metropolitan area. Open Studio Project is committed to the concept that art can transform lives through self-discovery and enrich communities by promoting positive social change.
Open Studio Project runs creative arts classes and workshops for adults, teens, and children both in its studio and in classrooms and organizations across the North Shore. Gallery 901 increases awareness of social issues and invites diverse artists and audiences to join in exhibiting and viewing work made with a creative process.
