Cake pops are the new cupcakes — trendy and bite-sized.
Add orange frosting and spooky jack-o’-lantern faces to bring these festive pops to life. This no-mess, easy-to-eat treat is perfect for a kids’ party, but will still be a hit at your adult costume bash. The only downside? Plan to spend a few hours in the kitchen to bake, make and decorate.
- 1 box cake mix, any kind
- 1 16 oz. container ready-made frosting
- 40 paper lollipop sticks
- 40 oz. orange candy coating
- 2 jars orange sugar sprinkles
- 1 1 oz. bottle of black liquid food coloring
- 1 Styrofoam block (optional, but works GREAT to stick the finished pops in to dry)
1. Once your cake pops are formed and chilled (see our instructions here) heat the candy coating in a microwave-safe plastic bowl and stir every 30 seconds until melted.
2. Dip each stick in a little of the melted candy mixture before inserting into a cake ball for a more secure hold. Once you have your cake ball on the stick, dip it into the orange candy coating, cover with sugar sprinkles, stick it in the Styrofoam block and let dry. Wait at least 30 minutes before piping on a scary jack-o’-lantern face.
