5 Things to Do: August 22-24

Get ready because this is going to be a busy weekend.

Fashionistas will love a shopping festival on Chicago’s most famous street while movie and TV fans will be excited to meet some of their favorite celebrities. If art is more your thing, shop the works of the country’s best artists will supporting ovarian cancer research or find new pieces and enjoy samples of favorite food. Plus, families can savor the last few days of summer at a block party hosted by the Winnetka Community House.

For 10 days, the Mag Mile will host fantastic events like A Magnificent Taste on Friday, ShopFest on Saturday and Sunday and The Magnificent Mile Chicago Women’s Half-Marathon & 5K on August 31.

30th Annual American Craft Exposition

Evanston

Some of the country’s best craftspeople will be in Evanston this weekend selling ceramics, furniture, jewelry and more. Proceeds from the show will benefit NorthShore University HealthSystem’s ovarian cancer research. A benefit preview party will take place Thursday.

Stars of popular movies and shows, including Patrick Stewart (“Star Trek”), Norman Reedus (“The Walking Dead”), William Shatner (“Star Trek”), Matt Smith (“Doctor Who”) and David Boreanaz (“Bones”), will make their way to Chicagoland this weekend. The fun begins on Thursday.

Taste of Highland Park
