If you have a couple days off this week, make the most of your extra time!
Thanksgiving is all about tradition, but if you’re looking to do something different this year, there’s plenty going on to keep you moving (a perfect way to work off all that turkey!). And if you’re not into Black Friday, spend your weekend avoiding crowded shopping areas with these five suggestions.

This holiday exhibition at the Chicago Botanic Garden is a favorite of many Chicago-area families. The 2013 version opens this weekend and features a new Wonderland Express building of the Como Inn, a miniature Stanley Cup to honor the Chicago Blackhawks, an online scavenger hunt, and more.
Straight No Chaser
This a cappella group is currently on tour to celebrate their album “Under the Influence,” which features collaborations with Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Dolly Parton and Jason Mraz. Straight No Chaser will be performing twice at The Chicago Theatre, but buy your tickets today so you don’t miss out on either show.
The Evanston History Center’s Annual Holiday Open House
Explore the lakeside mansion, view exhibits, make crafts with the kids and enjoy holiday treats and live music. The Evanston History Center will also kick off their 8th annual food drive, so consider bringing nutritious, nonperishable food for Evanston food pantries.
