This is the first weekend of the Q Brothers’ hip-hop adaptation of “Othello” at Chicago Shakes. The show has been performed around the world and returns to Chicago through May 8.

Piven Theatre Workshop’s “Dead Man Walking,” part of The Quality of Mercy Project series, is based on Sister Helen Prejean’s book about her experience working with a death row inmate. Prejean will do a reading and book signing on Saturday at Bookends & Beginnings in Evanston.
