5 Things to Do: April 17-19

This week’s 5 Things to Do has a little something for everyone.

Music fans will love Music Institute of Chicago’s Community Music Festival, which will feature 100 concerts (yes, 100!) in 16 days. And if you’re a fan of music but also love movies, don’t miss CIMMfest in Chicago.

Prefer antiques? Then stop by the Chicago Botanic Garden for one of their most anticipated events of the year. Or, fill up on tasty food and drink at Baconfest.

There’s also a way for families to spend some time together at the beach.

Participating restaurants include Edzo’s Burger Shop, Glazed and Infused, Honey Butter Fried Chicken and Taco Joint. And you can feel good about your bacon consumption—a portion of proceeds will go to the Greater Chicago Food Depository.

Don’t let the fact that it’s not yet 80 degrees stop you from enjoying a day at Lloyd Beach. Bring your swimsuit, a towel, sunscreen and maybe a few blankets to warm up with after your leap in Lake Michigan. You can also warm up with corned beef and refreshments, a bon fire, a Chili Cook Off and Dessert Bake Off.
