Wilmette’s own Megon McDonough will pay tribute to some of the “most powerful and prolific female singers of the last 60 years,” including Billie Holiday, Bonnie Raitt, Carole King, Ella Fitzgerald, Janis Joplin, Joni Mitchell and Patsy Cline, at Wilmette Theatre.

Former Chicago Bear Rashied Davis is hosting this bowling and dining event at Kings Bowl Lincoln Park to support Saturday Place, an academic enrichment program for third and fourth grade CPS students. Participating chefs include Kevin Cuddihee (TWO), Kevin Hickey (Bottlefork/The Duck Inn), Tony Priolo (Piccolo Sogno/Piccolo Sogno Due) and Paul Virant (Vie/Perennial Virant). Other participants include Aja Stevens, Jerry Azumah, Garrett Wolfe, Jason Davis and Kelvin Hayden.
Black Playwrights Festival

In its 11th year, the Black Playwrights Festival will feature three new full-length and ten-minutes plays on the Black Ensemble Theater stage. The Opening Ceremonies on April 24 will honor director and playwright Carla Stillwell and playwright Reginald Edmund.

This musical comedy is making its Chicago premiere at The PrivateBank Theatre and follows a struggling playwright who accepts help from a mobster in order to get his show on stage. What could possibly go wrong?
