This Father’s Day, take Dad to an ale or barbecue festival in Chicago before heading to Pride Fest. You can also enjoy a relaxing evening at Ravinia or visit Itasca for a Scottish festival.
And if you still need a gift, we’ve got you covered.
Chicago Ale Fest
Treat Dad to an evening (or afternoon) of beer and bites at Buckingham Fountain. Participating brewers (there are more than 100) include Chicago’s Burnt City Brewing and Glenview’s Ten Ninety Brewing. A portion of proceeds will benefit the Grant Park Conservancy. (Bonus: Lincoln Park Zoo is also hosting Brew to Be Wild June 17-18.)
30th Annual Scottish Festival & Highland Games
Head out to Itasca for the largest Scottish event in the midwest. This family-friendly festival features a British car show, haggis eating and hurling contests, a rugby tournament, a whisky and spirits tent, and more.
6 Corners BBQ Fest
You might have already had plans to break out the grill this weekend, but let vendors like Blackhawk BBQ & Seafood, Chicago BBQ Company and Robinson’s Ribs cook some ribs, chicken and pulled pork for Dad instead. This fest also includes live music, wrestling shows, a kids area, camel rides and more.
Chicago Pride Fest
Before the Pride Parade on June 26, celebrate at this street fest featuring performances by Jordin Sparks, Daya, Dumblonde, Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus and more.
Father’s Day Jazz Special

June 19
Highland Park
Maybe the only thing Dad wants is a relaxing evening at Ravinia, where you can see Ramsey Lewis, John Pizzarelli, Monty Alexander, Allan Harris, and the Joey Alexander Trio on Father’s Day. Ravinia is also offering a special evening package deal for $75. Learn more here.
Looking Ahead
- Celebrate the first day of summer (and the longest day of the year) with Make Music Chicago, a free music event throughout the city. With almost 200 events and 100 sites, there’s plenty to do this Tuesday. Learn more here.
