Summer officially arrived June 20, but there have already been quite a few summer events in the past few weeks. The summer fun continues this weekend as Chicago hosts the NHL Draft for the first time ever as well as these five can’t-miss events.

Oil Lamp Theater’s newest production, “The Faculty Lounge” by Teri Foltz and directed by Keith Gerth, follows five teachers facing budget cuts at their school and answering a question posed by a journalism class for the school paper: Why did you become a teacher?

Winnetka Music Festival

With more than 40 performances in 13 locations, this new festival will be the “the community’s hottest summer music event.” Wild Belle, who has performed at Lollapalooza and on “Conan,” will headline the festival, which will even feature a family music stage for the youngest festival attendees. Plus, enjoy craft beer, wine, and a variety of dining options from local food trucks.

  • The North Shore Art League’s Art in the Village will also take place June 24-25 just north of the Winnetka Music Festival in Hubbard Woods Park.

Trolley Tour: Wilmette Celebrities

The Wilmette Historical Museum will host a guided trolley tour of Wilmette homes where celebrities like Ann-Margret, Bill Murray and Jens Jensen once lived. Tickets are still available for the 11:30 a.m. tour and can be purchased here.

Evanston Chamber Artisan SummerFest

Formerly known as Fountain Square Art Festival, this juried fine arts fair will feature works from more than 100 artists as well as 30 more artists showcasing pieces made from recycled and found materials. There will also be free educational workshops, craft beer and wine tastings, street musicians, a kids area and more.

Family Program: “The Children’s Tree of Terezin” Book Launch

Visit the Illinois Holocaust Museum on June 25 for the book launch of “The Children’s Tree of Terezin.” Kids will decorate a flower pot to take home and “tree’ts” will be provided. Reserve your spot here.

  • Glenview’s annual Summer Fest will return June 24 at Lehigh Avenue and Jackman Park. Enjoy live music, family activities, shopping and more with local businesses and civic organizations.
