Fall Fest

Visit Lincoln Park Zoo for fall fun all season long. In addition to a Ferris wheel, corn maze, and hay mountain, the Zoo will offer animal chats, live music, a pumpkin patch and more.

Your child’s favorite books will come to life at this Chicago Children’s Museum exhibit. Inspired by five of Eric Carle’s books, including “The Very Hungry Caterpillar,” children will be able to become the Very Hungry Caterpillar, create a symphony with the Very Quiet Cricket and more.

  • Bonus: Have even more fun with your kiddos at Kohl Children’s Museum’s “Build It!” exhibit, which reopens Sept. 27.

Bibliophiles, don’t miss this free event featuring more than 80 presses and literary organizations, speakers and programs, and the first Chicago Architecture Book Festival. Programs include “Vivian Maier: A Photographer’s Life and Afterlife,” “Voices from Syria: Listening in a Time of Misrepresentation” and “Mysterious and Thrilling Women.”

Bonus:

  • The Morton Arboretum will host a Vegetarian Dinner Oct. 1. This six-course dinner will include dishes like Grilled Fall Vegetable Salad and Grilled Cauliflower “Steak.”
