It’s festival season!
Chicago (and the North Shore) knows how to throw a good festival, and it all starts this weekend with Mayfest in Lakeview and the Skokie Festival of Cultures. Enjoy this warm weather with food, drinks, live music and kid-friendly activities.
Looking for a more relaxing way to spend your weekend? Shop Evanston’s Central Street or bring your kids to a fishing derby in Northbrook. You can also workout with Bob Harper of “The Biggest Loser.” And fitness fanatics will find a Make A Difference bonus event perfect for the entire family.
Mayfest
Rock out with local cover bands, dine on delicious offerings from Lakeview restaurants, and even get your kids and furry friends in on the fun with Chicago Kids Day on Saturday and the Chicago Pet Pageant Expo on Sunday.
Spring Fling 2014
Enjoy a day of outdoor shopping with your girlfriends or daughter. Stop by your favorite Central Street stores and you’ll find can’t-miss sales and surprises.
Kids’ Fishing Derby
Grab a rod (or borrow one there) and introduce your kids to this relaxing hobby. Awards will be given for largest fish, smallest fish and most fish caught.
Workout in the Park
Join SELF Magazine and Bob Harper for this workout in Grant Park. Try CRUNCH Fitness, yoga, Pilates, CrossFit and more. Harper will lead a total body-blasting workout and sign copies of his book “Skinny Meals.”
Skokie Festival of Cultures
The festival fun continues with this North Shore celebration. You’ll feel like you’ve traveled the world after you experience these two days of food, games, beer tasting, merchandise bazaar and displays, all from different countries including China, Greece, Israel and Sweden.
Make A Difference Bonus:
- Run for a good cause at the For Kids 5K this Saturday, May 17 at 10 a.m. Money raised will benefit Northwestern Settlement. The race starts at A.
