5 Things to Do: October 18 – 20

5thingspumpkinfestOne thing is for certain: It’s harvest season.

You can’t swing a black cat this weekend without knocking over at least one corn stalk—from Spring Grove to Glenview, everyone is going to be outdoors this weekend taking in the sights, sounds and smells of October. And for pumpkin fans? Highwood’s the place to be.

Would you rather shop than shuck corn? Winnetka’s annual Antiques and Modernism Show is this weekend, too.

Here are 5 great suggestions for the weekend:

The Great Highwood Pumpkin Festival

It’s all things pumpkin this weekend, as the town goes for the Guinness world record in the number of lit jack-o’-lanterns. Carve a pumpkin, enjoy great food and entertainment and even join in the 5K on Sunday to raise a few bucks for St. Baldrick’s Foundation!

Corn Harvest Festival

Maze ‘Til Midnight

The world’s largest corn maze is open until midnight, giving you more time to make your way through the farm’s 33 acres. This year’s maze pays tribute to The Beatles and the 50th anniversary of their first album. Hopefully you won’t need too much “Help!” while trying to get out.
