This weekend is all about family fun!
Halloween is in full swing around the North Shore, and there are plenty of ways to get the most out of your costume. Bring the kids to a “not so scary” haunted house at the Winnetka Community House, and then return for more spooky fun that evening. Or if you prefer hayrides and bonfires, we’ve got that too. There’s even a way to trick-or-treat while shopping.
Here are 5 family-friendly suggestions for the weekend:
98th Annual Haunted House
Friday, Oct. 25
Winnetka
Stop by the Winnetka Community House for this annual tradition. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., kids age 10 and under can enjoy a “not so scary” haunted house, while those looking for a fright can visit at night.
One Spooktacular Evening
Friday, Oct. 25
Highland Park
Bundle up for an evening of food and fun at Sunset Woods Park. Activities will cater to those ages 5-8 and 9-13, and include inflatables, a photo booth, glow-in-the-dark tent with games and laser tag.
23rd Annual Fairy Tale Trail
Friday, Oct. 25 to Saturday, Oct. 26
Evanston
Mermaids, wizards and princesses, oh my! Those are just a few of the characters your child will meet on the Fairy Tale Trail. The Woman’s Club of Evanston clubhouse will be decorated with scenes from beloved children’s stories, so children with and without special needs can have a safe and fun Halloween experience.
Halloween Hoopla
Friday, Oct. 25 to Saturday, Oct. 26
Deerfield
This year’s event features annual favorites, including a bonfire, outdoor movie in the park and hayrides, in addition to a new “Green Screen” photo station and costume contests. And if you’re up for it, check out the haunted house, which will be “lights-on” for kids on Saturday.
Linden Square Pumpkin Walk
Saturday, Oct. 26
Wilmette
Take your costume out for a test run, I mean walk. Enjoy free hayrides and kid-friendly activities like face painting and a Halloween obstacle course. Stop by participating stores for treats and giveaways.
Wait–there’s more!
