5 Things to Do: September 5-7

Ahh, September.

It’s a month of beginnings and endings, but one thing that stays the same is the area’s large offering of things to do, see and eat. Begin your weekend (or start early!) by visiting the Chicago Botanic Garden’s exhibit on bookplates, some marking ownership by the world’s brightest minds.

If you’re looking to spend some time in the city, there’s a can’t-miss block party that proves festivals aren’t just for summer. Or, shop a craft fair that’s sure to leave you wishing for just a few more arms to carry all of your new finds. You can also get a football-inspired workout in before cheering on the Bears for the first time this season. Need some family time? Grab your tent and head out to Lake Forest for a fun sleepover on the beach.
