If you’re looking to spend some time in the city, there’s a can’t-miss block party that proves festivals aren’t just for summer. Or, shop a craft fair that’s sure to leave you wishing for just a few more arms to carry all of your new finds. You can also get a football-inspired workout in before cheering on the Bears for the first time this season. Need some family time? This rare-book exhibit gives visitors to the garden a closer look at decorative bookplates, including the earliest recorded bookplate from 1671. Other books in the collection were owned by Thomas Carlyle, Anthony Trollope and Charles Dickens.

As one of the largest gatherings of indie craft makers in the country, this market offers visitors an opportunity to shop handmade goods, munch on local treats, learn about nonprofits and participate in workshops, including one hosted by The Chicago School of Shoemaking.
