Days Of Our Lives Stars Visit Chicago

Days Of Our Lives can now sit on your coffee table!

Deidre Hall, Kristian Alfonso, Peter Reckell and other cast members were in town over the weekend to promote their new book, “Days of Our Lives 45 Years: A Celebration in Photos,” which was released to coincide with the show’s 45th anniversary.

“It’s a fantastic photo album,” says Alfonso, who’s played Hope on the show for 23 years and was one of the 7 cast members signing books at The Chicago Flower and Garden Show at Navy Pier. “It gives our viewers an opportunity to reminisce.”

Deidre Hall (Dr. Marlena Evans), Peter Reckell (Bo), Shawn Christian (Dr. Daniel Jonas), and Molly Burnett (Melanie Layton) were all on hand, signing books and taking pictures with fans who waited in line for hours.

Also in attendance were co-authors of the book, Greg Meng and Eddie Campbell, and former head writer, Sheri Anderson, author of the show’s novel series, “Salem’s Secrets, Scandals and Lies.”

“Days Of Our Lives 45 Years; A Celebration in Photos” is a 256-page hardcover, full color photo book that includes original pages from scripts, archived photos, early set designs, and candid past and contemporary photos.

“We thought, ‘How cool would it be to bring people behind the scenes?’” says Meng, who is also the executive in charge of production for the show and senior vice president for Corday Productions. “We went into a lot of rooms where viewers had never gone; the dressing rooms, the makeup room. We wanted to show our viewers our house, our world.”

“The book is a perfect celebration of 45 years,” says Hall, who played Marlena on the show for 32 years. “We’re in people’s living rooms every day and now, and this book will give them a sense of our family.”

When asked what the best part is about “Days Of Our Lives,” Alfonso responded with a warm grin, “It’s family. It’s home.”

As for how she feels about the cast members she worked with for almost 3 decades, Hall says, “I have such high praise.”
