Once a CPA and business executive, Marlene Franke is putting aside two decades of work in the financial world to produce custom-tailored professional suits for women inspired by 1950s fashion.
After launching downtown last fall, Franke is now crafting these custom suits in the North Shore. Her spring-summer 2013 collection, entitled “Pinnacle,” features several styles of suits in fabrics sourced from Italy, France, England and Scotland. Each suit has a different mantra, name and a unique personality. The suits are currently available for purchase through private showings.
Franke has been designing and making clothes for many years now. She got her start creating custom clothing for herself before deciding to launch her company, Marlene Atelier. A portion of the proceeds from each sale is donated to Almost Home Kids, an Illinois-based organization whose mission is to provide transitional care to children with complicated health needs, training for their families and respite care.
