The Northfield-based North Shore Senior Center is collecting specific materials from that are needed by a not-for-profit Louisiana estuary preservation program to clean wildlife and to protect the crucial shore where ocean inhabitants breed.
Here is a partial list of supplies being collected for the Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary program (a 501c3 not-for-profit):
- Clorox® wipes
- Plastic measuring tape (used for sewing)
- Duct Tape®
- Yellow kitchen cleaning gloves
- Bug spray
- Aveeno® face sunscreen
- Gallon and quart double zipper seal plastic bags (Not slide closures)
- Baby wipes
- Gauze pads
- Electrical tape
- Soft Soap® hand soap

The organization said they prefer the products and not monetary contributions because the supplies are difficult to purchase in Gulf states where clean-up and protection efforts are causing shortages.
