Quick and Easy: Corn Roast to Benefit the Northfield Food Pantry

As the summer winds to an end, we may all have had our fair share of barbecue sins, from delectable ribs to hamburgers, hotdogs and steak.

But one thing that won’t leave you feeling guilty: corn on the cob.  Besides being a healthy yet delicious treat (as long as you go easy on the butter and salt), this corn-cob just might make the world a better place.

Hosted by the Winnetka-Northfield Chamber of Commerce as well as Sunset Foods on Sunday, August 25th, everyone is invited to enjoy a bounty of nature’s best at the Northfield Farmers Market Corn Roast.  All proceeds go to the Northfield Township Food Pantry.

With Live music provided by the 3rd Sunday String Band and parking readily available in the New Trier High School Northfield lot, it’s a perfect opportunity to bring out the whole gang and make it an event.  Or, get your fresh-roasted corn to go and enjoy it later.

Located on the grounds of the Northfield Farmers Market at 6 Happ Road in Northfield, the Corn Roast will start at 9 am and go until the farmers market closes at 12:30 pm.  And if you happen to miss the Corn Roast, stop by the Northfield Farmers market and support local artisans and farmers, open every Sunday from 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM until October 20th.
