Donate Unused Bikes

pedalpower2Are there extra bikes or scooters in your garage that you have outgrown? Would you like to donate them to kids who don’t have a bike or a scooter? Pedal Power is collecting bikes and scooters for the Jane Addams Hull House Association in Chicago.

This is a program to recognize achievement and commitment in the Chicago Public Schools.  Many of these kids have never owned a bike. If you would like to participate, please bring your bike or scooter to the McKenzie Elementary School teacher’s parking lot (649 Prairie Ave., Wilmette) on Saturday, Nov. 14, between 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

There is a second drop-off spot for bikes this year at the George Garner Cyclery (1111 Waukegan Rd., Northbrook) if that is more convenient for you.

Please make sure the bike or scooter is clean and in good working order. And if you can bring it with a bow already attached, that would be great!

Last year Pedal Power accepted donated helmets, but this year the Hull House Association is going to buy new helmets for the students for safety and health reasons.  If you would like, you can go to the Hull House Association website and make a donation directly to them.
