The Birth of a Nation
Oct. 7
Though praise has been heaped on “The Birth of a Nation” as a film, the news about director, writer and star Nat Parker is overshadowing the movie itself. It’s hard to decide if you can separate the two, but the controversy facilitates important dialogue.
The Girl on the Train

It was a book that no one could put down; now one of the best thrillers of recent years takes the screen and stars Emily Blunt as the troubled lead character. Will this be the next “Gone Girl”?

Harry Potter fans, line up. This is our top pick for the fall. Even though this isn’t Harry Potter, it is Newt Scamander; and it’s not Hogwarts, but New York. We still can’t wait.
