Better Makers: North Shore Communities Unite to Raise Almost $30,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association

Alzheimer's Association — North Shore Reason to Hope

The second annual North Shore Reason to Hope fundraising luncheon brought together North Shore residents and the Alzheimer’s Association at the Highland Park Country Club on April 14. The one-hour luncheon included discussion about new medical research and the actions that the association is taking in Illinois, in addition to first-hand accounts from caregivers and Alzheimer’s patients.

With more than 220,000 Illinois residents with dementia, there is no better time to raise money to support Alzheimer’s research and education in the community. The Alzheimer’s Association created Reason to Hope to increase the awareness of this disease both locally and nationally. Luncheon attendees were asked to make a contribution to affirm their support to the cause.

The Greater Illinois Chapter of the association serves 68 counties in Illinois, and has helped the community since 1980. With help from the Alzheimer’s Association, Illinois has seen an increase in supportive services for families, medical research, and public policy change.
