For over a century, March 8 has marked the global celebration of International Women’s Day. Adopted by the United Nations in 1975, the holiday pays homage to women’s achievements throughout history, while continuing to accelerate and demand change, for a world free of gender discrimination, bias and barriers.
The theme of 2019 is #BalanceforBetter. Everyone has a part to play in making sure each person is counted and has a seat at the table. Balance is not a women’s issue, it’s a business issue.
Cultivating gender-balanced environments in all facets of life — the boardroom, government, media coverage, the workplace – is critical for economies and communities to flourish.
JCC Chicago celebrated International Women’s Day 2019 with “Cocktails. Conversation. Community.
