Since PAWS Chicago was founded in 1997, the number of homeless pets killed in the city has been reduced by 87 percent. Now one of the largest No Kill shelters in the country, and one that has received Charity Navigator’s highest 4-star ranking for 16 years in a row, PAWS Chicago found homes for 5,371 dogs and cats in 2017.
On Nov. 9, more than 800 guests and their pets enjoyed an evening of dining and dancing at the organization’s 17th Annual Fur Ball at The Drake Hotel. The event raised approximately $1.2 million, which will benefit PAWS Chicago’s adoption and subsidized spay/neuter programs and the goal of making Chicago a No Kill city.
The 17th Annual Fur Ball was co-chaired by Melissa and Michael Canning and Jessica and Tim Canning. The honorary co-chair was Stephanie F. Harris. The event was emceed by FOX 32’s Lou Canellis, Jake Hamilton, Kaitlin Cody, and Shae Peppler and BIG 95.5’s Lisa Dent. Presenting sponsors included A. Marek Fine Jewelry, Workstorm, and The Drake Hotel.
